一、TPEE polyester elastomer Basic overview

1、TPEE is a block copolymer containing a polyester hard segment and a polyether soft segment; The soft segment gives it elasticity like rubber;

2、Appearance color: off-white particles, ultra-white polyester; Hardness range: 30D-82D, various hardness;

二、TPEE polyester elastomer super comparison (TPEE, TPU, TPV, TPE, TPR)

1、TPEE: Polyester abbreviated as TPC-ET or COPEE or (TPEE-E)

①、Mechanical properties: hardness range 25D-82D Shore Scale; elasticity and strength are between rubber and plastic; TPEE has the highest modulus. 

②、Tensile strength: TPEE has higher compressive modulus and tensile modulus than TPU, and has greater bearing capacity; Good impact strength at low temperature; Better fatigue resistance;

③、Heat resistance: the higher the hardness of TPEE, the better the heat resistance; Long-term working temperature: -70°C-125°C; Short-term 150°C-160°C, good cold resistance;

④、Chemical resistance: oil resistance is very good, the hardness is super high, and the chemical solvent resistance is better;

⑤、Aging resistance: TPEE is chemically stable under various external conditions such as water mist, ozone, and outdoor atmosphere; Other types will decompose；

⑥、High resilience: make springs reusable, better performance than rubber, and other types of elastomers, TPE, TPU, TPR, TPV;

⑦、Processing and molding: TFEE melt is sensitive to temperature, within the range of 10 °C, the melt viscosity changes dozens of times, and the molding temperature should be strictly controlled.

2. TPU: Chinese called polyurethane rubber (divided into polyether TP0 and polyester TPU)

◆ Polyester type: high mechanical properties, good oil resistance, but poor water resistance

◆ Polyether type: low temperature resistance and water resistance are better than those of polyester type, but oil resistance and mechanical properties are worse than those of polyester type

①、Mechanical properties: hardness is determined by the combination of hard and soft sections; Shore 504-75D; The softness is better than that of TPEE, and the resilience is weaker than that of TPEE；

②、Abrasion resistance: the abrasion resistance is 2-10 times that of natural rubber: the elongation is as high as 600%~800%, which is 300 times higher than that of natural rubber and higher than TFEE; 

③、Physical properties: density 1.14-1.22g/cm3; The long-term use temperature of TPU is -50-90 °C, and the short-term temperature is 100 °C, which is worse than that of TPEE;

3. TPV: thermoplastic vulcanized rubber (one is plastic, as a continuous phase, and the other is a combination of rubber as a dispersed phase)

◆ elasticity and compression deformation resistance, aging resistance and weather resistance are equivalent to EPDM rubber, and the oil and solvent resistance performance is comparable to that of neoprene.

①、Mechanical properties: TPV is thermoplastic (EPDM dynamic vulcanized elastomer/rubber), wear-resistant, light in weight and moderate in price;

②、Physical properties: light specific gravity (0.90-0.97), long-term use temperature range -60~150 °C, hardness range (25A-63D);

③、Main manufacturers: The main manufacturers of TPV are Shanduping in the United States and Shandong Dawn, which are mostly used in the sealing industry, which are green and environmentally friendly and recyclable.

4. TPE: thermoplastic elastomer

◆TPE type: styrene TPE, diene TPE, vinyl chloride TPE, (polyurethane TPE, olefin TPE are the main raw materials for mass production)

①、Physical properties: good hand feel, good ultraviolet resistance, Shore hardness between 0A~100A, temperature resistance not exceeding 80 °C, density of about 0.88-1.05

②、Product performance: low price, replacing PVC, healthier, safer and environmentally friendly (TPE is widely used in rubber covering, injection molding, extrusion molding)

③、Application range: sealing rings, auto parts, Handles, gears, etc. (with good shock absorption, compression resistance, electrical insulation)

5. TPR: thermoplastic elastomer

◆TPR has the processing properties of thermoplastics and the physical properties of vulcanized rubber, which is a combination of advantages of plastics and rubber

①、physical properties: specific gravity 0.85~1.20, shrinkage rate 1.5~3%; It is recommended to use transparent or white particles with a temperature of no more than 70~75°C;

②、Product performance: weather resistance, aging resistance in general, if aging resistance and temperature resistance are required, the modified material of SEBS substrate can be selected; 

③、Scope of application: daily products, adult products, rubber, sports equipment, toy products, auto parts, wires and cables, shoe materials, etc

TPEE is mainly divided into two types according to the molding process: injection grade、extrusion grade

injection grade Shore hardness: 28D, 35D, 40D, 50D, 55D, 63D, 68D, 72D, 82D, 85D hardness increases in order

extrusion grade Shore hardness: 30D, 40D, 45D, 55D, 63D, 72D, 82D (including extrusion, injection, spinning, blow molding)

Auto parts: due to excellent (hot) oil resistance, excellent (high and low temperature) flexural fatigue, wear resistance, high strength and toughness, and super good fatigue resistance.

◇◇Application: CWJ dust cover, sheath, airbag, antenna, door handle sealing ring, shock absorber plate, silencer gear, blockage, coating, etc.

Transportation accessories: buffers, springs; TPEE does not rust, deteriorate under environmental conditions, and does not cause elastic cracking and loss

Biomedical: TPEE has excellent and adjustable performance, low acidity of degradation products, good biocompatibility, and is not easy to cause receptor histosis reaction.

Electronic appliances: welding cable sheaths, electrical elastic buttons, cordless telephone radomes, wires and cables, instruments and equipment

Optical fiber communication: due to good mechanical properties and flex resistance, it can ensure that the optical fiber is not damaged (optical fiber connector)

Sports: Snowboard coating, snowshoe soles TPEE has excellent impact resistance and flexibility in cold climates

Injection molding: Spectacle frames, hydraulic hoses, light tires, excellent mechanical properties and wearing comfort can be used as 3D glasses materials

Textile and footwear: unique breathability, which can quickly discharge water vapor inside the structure, avoid mold growth in the structure, and always maintain dry performance

◇◇Application: spinning, extrusion, weaving, shoe materials, sporting goods, daily necessities

Plastic modification: It can be used as a polymer modifier to improve the low-temperature performance and impact performance of plastics such as POI, PBT, PET, and polystyrene (PS).

◇◇Improvement: Improve the oil resistance and stress crack resistance of PC, and improve the low-temperature flexibility and cold resistance of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
