Every engineer knows the scene: a dust cover that looks perfect on paper fails after six months under the hood, leaking grease and squeaking on every bump. The usual suspects are oil, heat and flex fatigue — but the real culprit is often the material itself. When the working temperature exceeds 100°C and oil contact is constant, choosing between TPEE and TPV is not a matter of preference; it is a matter of survival.
Thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) is a linear block copolymer with crystalline PBT hard segments and amorphous polyester or polyether soft segments. This structure delivers high mechanical strength, excellent elasticity, impact resistance, low creep and outstanding fatigue resistance. It resists oil, chemicals and solvents, and stays elastic at low temperatures. Thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV), made by dynamic vulcanization, disperses crosslinked rubber particles in a thermoplastic continuous phase, offering weather and ozone resistance and compression-set performance comparable to EPDM.

For dust covers, TPEE clearly outperforms TPV on oil and temperature resistance — the two properties that decide boot life. TPEE's glossy surface and silent operation under compression also improve perceived quality in final assembly.
How to choose? If your part sees continuous oil immersion or peaks above 120°C, TPEE is the safer bet. If lowest cost with matte appearance matters more, TPV remains workable. When in doubt, qualify both under real duty cycles.
