Three questions that decide the housing polymer for Type-C, board-to-board and sensor parts

Connector walls have thinned to 0.1-0.3 mm, and lead-free soldering pushes housing peaks to 245-260 °C. For electronics customers buying our LCP and PPA lines, three questions settle the choice almost every time: can it fill, will it stay flat, and will it survive the reflow profile.

Flow and thin-wall filling

LCP melts to a near-zero-viscosity melt that fills 0.1-0.2 mm walls at low injection pressure and short cycle times - the reason fine-pitch Type-C and board-to-board housings default to it. PPA needs higher pressure but fills 0.3-0.5 mm walls economically and offers broader colour and toughened options.

Warpage and reflow survival

LCP's low, fast-freezing shrink keeps pins coplanar through reflow, though its anisotropic shrink needs gate-aware mould design. High-heat PPA holds 245-260 °C peaks reliably and tolerates tougher handling; both families ship with UL yellow-card ratings matched to the temperatures your solder profile actually reaches.

A short verification checklist

Before committing a grade, confirm the UL yellow card rating against your reflow profile, review RoHS and REACH declarations, and run colour and lot-consistency approvals on real tooling. We supply both polymers with lot-traceable COA and support moulding trials with grades tuned to your tool and cavity layout.
