Hydrolysis, chemistry and stability: why hot fluid systems stay with PPS

Hot-water circulators, glycol loops, chemical dosing pumps and automotive thermal-management valves all ask the same of a moulding: keep its stiffness, dimensions and sealing surfaces in hot fluid, year after year. This is where polyamide families gradually lose, and where PPS earns its place in our export programme.
How PA and PPA fail in hot fluids
Polyamides absorb water and glycols; chain hydrolysis and plasticisation soften the part, and torque retention or sealing pressure drifts as dimensions move. High-heat PPAs delay the process but do not remove it, and most lose chemical margin in acidic or alkaline media.
What PPS brings to fluid systems
PPS is semi-crystalline, chemically inert to nearly everything below its high service temperature and inherently flame-retardant to UL94 V-0 with no additive package. Glass-filled at 40% or 65%, it holds impeller profiles and valve seats with minimal creep, keeping pump efficiency stable through its life.

Design and sourcing notes
Watch glass exposure on wear surfaces, pair shafts and bearings accordingly, and anneal precision parts for dimensional control. We export PPS in standard and high-flow grades with datasheets and COA, and support impeller and valve trials with material samples and moulding guidance.
