Second, TPE coated nylon is more difficult reasons
The main reasons are material compatibility, nylon surface state, molding temperature, processing technology and formula.
Material compatibility: Polarity differences between TPE and nylon may result in poor compatibility between them.
Nylon surface state: Nylon surface is too smooth, oil, moisture or other impurities will affect the TPE and its bonding effect.
Coating molding temperature: If the molding temperature is too low, TPE may not be able to melt fully, resulting in insufficient bonding force between the coating layer and the nylon part. If the temperature is too high, it may lead to nylon deformation or excessive degradation of TPE, which also affects the fastness of the adhesive.
Process parameters: Too fast or too slow injection speed may affect the filling effect and binding force of TPE in the mold; However, insufficient injection pressure may result in the inability of TPE to penetrate fully into the tiny pores of nylon parts, thereby reducing the firmness of the coating.
Formula problem: The melting point difference between TPE and coated nylon in the formula is too large, which will also affect the bonding effect of the two. If the melting point of TPE is much higher than the melting point of nylon parts, then during the coating molding process, TPE may not be able to produce enough melting corrosion on the coated surface of nylon parts, thus affecting the bonding effect of the two.

Mainly from the nylon surface shape, injection temperature and formula to solve:
Nylon surface treatment: punch holes or make grooves in non-important positions of nylon parts to increase the contact surface.
Secondary injection molding temperature: When secondary injection molding, first bake the hot nylon parts, and pack the adhesive while hot, and appropriately increase the processing temperature.
Improved formula: TPE formula to add grafting materials, such as modified SEBS, modified PP, modified POE, improve the compatibility with nylon.
