In the process of TPE pelleting, the phenomenon of strip gushing refers to the abnormal mass of melt gushing from the mold opening or screw during the process of TPE material being extruded into strips, forming an unstable and discontinuous material flow. The main manifestations are:
1, the material flow is unstable: when the material surge, the material flow may become intermittent, no longer maintain a uniform and continuous state.
2, extrusion abnormal: compared with normal extrusion, the amount of extrusion during the surge will increase significantly, resulting in too thick or irregular shape.
3, mold mouth accumulation: melt may accumulate near the mold mouth, forming an uneven material layer, and may even lead to mold blockage.
4, affect product quality: surge will lead to irregular shape, size instability, thereby affecting the quality and performance of the final product.
First, the cause of the surge phenomenon
1, improper temperature control:
Excessive temperature: If the extruder heating temperature is too high, it will lead to excessive fluidity of the TPE melt, which increases the risk of gusher.
Temperature fluctuation: The unstable fluctuation of temperature will also affect the fluidity of the melt, resulting in the occurrence of gushing phenomenon.
2, screw speed is too fast:
Too high screw speed will accelerate the conveying speed of the melt, resulting in an increase in the pressure of the melt at the die mouth, resulting in gushing.
3, the quality of raw materials is unstable:
The excessive content of impurities and moisture in the raw material will affect the fluidity and stability of the melt, thereby increasing the risk of gushing.
Second, the solution to the surge problem
1, adjust the temperature control: to ensure that the heating temperature of the extruder is stable and moderate, to avoid too high or too low temperature affecting the material flow, resulting in gusher.
2, control screw speed: according to the fluidity and extrusion requirements of TPE material, reasonable adjustment of screw speed, so that the head pressure is maintained in the normal range.
3. Check and maintain the mold: regularly check whether the gap and parting surface of the mold are smooth, and timely replace the mold with serious wear.
4, ensure that the quality of raw materials is stable: choose TPE raw materials with stable quality, check whether the content of water and other raw materials is too high, if necessary, dry the material, the amount of oil should be moderate, and avoid the use of raw materials with high impurity content.
5, standardized operation: strengthen the training and management of operators to ensure that they operate in accordance with the correct process parameters and equipment operating procedures.
