There are several main ways of cutting TPE, each of which has its own unique mechanism and adaptation scenario:
First, water cooled strip cut
1. Mechanism:
The molten TPE material is extruded into strips by an extruder.
The strip material falls into the cooling tank and is cooled and shaped by the cooling water in the tank.
The cooled strip material is then cut by a granulator to form a granular product.
2. Adapt to the scene:
The equipment structure requires simple, easy operation and maintenance. Because of its wide range of adaptation, it can be used for granulation of various TPE materials.
The water-cooled drawing method is suitable for TPE materials with high hardness and slow cooling speed, and for TPE materials with low hardness or special performance requirements, other cutting methods should be considered.
Second. Cut the water ring into granules
1. Mechanism:
After the molten TPE material is extruded by the extruder, it directly enters the water ring cutting area.
The blades in the water ring cut the material to form a granular product.
The cut particles are carried away by the water flow and enter the subsequent dehydration and drying system.
2. Adapt to the scene:
The particles produced by water ring cutting are thinner and round, which is suitable for occasions where the particle shape is neat and beautiful.
Water ring granulation equipment is usually used in conjunction with extruders, suitable for large-scale, continuous production scenarios.
Three, underwater cutting
1. Mechanism:
After the molten TPE material is extruded from the die head, it enters the cutting area immediately.
The cutting blade cuts the material in water to form a granular product.
The cut particles are carried away directly by the water flow and enter the subsequent dehydration and drying system.
2. Adapt to the scene:
The particles produced by underwater granulation are spherical or elliptical, beautiful and stable in quality. It is suitable for the occasions where the shape of the particle is neat and not easy to adhere.
It is especially suitable for occasions with special requirements for material properties, such as ultra-soft TPE, TPU, TPV, etc.
Four, air cooling cut
1. Mechanism:
After the molten TPE material is extruded by an extruder, it is cooled by an air cooling system.
The cooled material is cut in a hot state to form a granular product.
2. Adapt to the scene:
The air-cooled granulation system is relatively simple and has low equipment investment requirements, which is suitable for TPE materials with low processing temperature or insensitive to temperature.
The air cooling efficiency is relatively low, and it is not suitable for large-scale and continuous production scenarios.
